The entire Garrett County Public School District may close, or a regional closure specific to either the Northern Garrett or Southern Garrett Regions may occur. The Annotated Code of Maryland, Section 7-103 requires that schools be open for pupil attendance 180 days and a minimum of 1,080 hours during a ten-month period. There are laws that define required state holidays and the number of days and hours that schools must be open for pupil attendance.
